Four Roses Partners with Brooklyn Brewery for 2020 Black Ops Imperial Stout
For lovers of Brooklyn Brewery’s Russian imperial stout Black Ops, Four Roses Distillery has announced it has partnered with the New York brewery to create a Black Ops aged in Four Roses Small Batch barrels.
The limited-edition beer is a version of the brewery’s classic imperial stout aged for an undisclosed period in barrels hand-selected by Four Roses master distiller Brent Elliott.
This version of Black Ops hits 12.4% alcohol by volume and combines the traditional chocolate and coffee notes with vanilla-like oak. In addition to barrel-aging, the beer also was re-fermented with champagne yeast.
The partnership was developed through a friendship between Brooklyn Brewery brewmaster Garrett Oliver and Four Roses COO Ryan Ashley, according to a news release.
The 2020 Brooklyn Black Ops will be available in limited quantities beginning in late November, with approximately 2,000 cases of cork-topped, 750mL bottles available in the U.S. The bottles will carry a MSRP of $24.99.
