Old Forester 2020 Birthday Bourbon Announced, 10 year, $129.99
Old Forester’s annual limited-edition Birthday Bourbon is back and will hit shelves on Sept. 2 in celebration of Old Forester founder George Garvin Brown’s birthday, its parent company Brown-Forman said.
This year’s is 10-year-old barrels, 98 proof and $129.99, with limited availability nationwide. It’s Old Forester’s 150th anniversary, which the company said makes the release “more special.” Blended by master distiller Chris Morris and master taster Jackie Zykan, whom is the cover story of the latest Bourbon+ Magazine, 95 barrels made up the composite.
George Garvin Brown was a pharmaceutical salesman and became the first to seal his whiskey, Old Forester, in a glass bottle – an innovation the spirit industry still uses today.
In addition, this is the third Birthday Bourbon to be bottled at the Old Forester Distilling Co. on Louisville’s Historic Whiskey Row. Hand selected by Master Distiller Chris Morris and Master Taster Jackie Zykan, this small batch bourbon offers a unique character and flavor profile that will never be replicated.
Old Forester’s Birthday Bourbon has been around since 2002.
