Baker's High Rye Bourbon bottle

James B. Beam Distilling Co. announced the release of Baker’s High-Rye Bourbon, a new single barrel expression that pays homage to Baker Beam’s trucking business, where he delivered grains to the James B. Beam Distilling Co.

During this time, he developed an appreciation for different grains and their influence on whiskey.

Baker originally started working as a night watchman during high school and held pretty much every job imaginable before working his way up to becoming Jim Beam’s distiller.

Never one for the spotlight, Baker was more comfortable with a wrench and a flashlight doing whatever it took to keep the bourbon flowing. When he retired after 38 years, he knew every square inch of the Beam distillery.

This high-rye recipe has twice the standard amount of rye in Baker’s Bourbon. It is aged for a minimum of seven years and bottled at 107 proof. The high-rye bourbon will be available for a limited time.

James Beam began selling barrels of whiskey in 1795. By 1935, his family’s business was formally established as the James B. Beam Distilling Company. In 2006, the company was renamed Beam Global Spirits & Wine, Inc. It was split from Fortune Brands to become an independent publicly traded company, Beam Inc., in 2011. Three years later, it was purchased by Suntory Holdings. For more information, visit https://www.bakersbourbon.com/.
