Washington Lafayette in Jennings Caleb’s Crossing bottle lifestyle

Spirits company Washington Lafayette and David Jennings, spirits author and founder of Rare Bird 101, announced the launch of Caleb’s Crossing.

The inaugural release presents two meticulously crafted American whiskeys: a Dual Cask Finish Bourbon and a Straight Rye Whiskey finished in Pineau des Charentes. These unique expressions will be available in limited quantities April 2025 at a suggested retail price of $149.99 each.

Born out of Jennings’ appreciation of American whiskey and his father’s love of French wine and brandy, Caleb’s Crossing is both an exploration of flavor and a celebration of family. The brand also serves as a tribute to their ancestor, Revolutionary War veteran Caleb Jennings, who journeyed from Goochland, Virginia to the French settlement of New Bordeaux, South Carolina.

Caleb’s Crossing Dual Cask Finish Bourbon features a blend of two high-rye straight bourbon whiskeys finished in first-fill Pineau des Charentes and Armagnac casks.

“It was crucial that the spirit retained its bourbon identity, yet at the same time showcased the sweeter, grape-forward aspects of Pineau and the dried fruit and leather attributes of Armagnac,” Jennings said in a news release.

In order to achieve this balance, slow proofing was utilized over a seven-month period. The result is a whiskey with cask-strength complexity at a comfortable, yet ample proof.

Caleb’s Crossing Rye Whiskey originates from a single barrel of “95/5” rye that underwent a secondary maturation in a first-fill white Pineau des Charentes cask. Similar to the Dual Cask Finish Bourbon, slow proofing was employed for a seven-month period to maintain balance.

“The payoff is a whiskey of significant depth and intensity, with layers of grape-laden sweetness accompanied by a prickly candy-like spice,” Jennings said.

These premium expressions will be available exclusively at BourbonOutfitter.com on April 4, 2025. For additional information, visit WashingtonLafayette.com.
