A new law in Kentucky allows alcohol confiscated from closed criminal investigations to be auctioned – and that’s just what the state is doing.

The auction, which closes Dec. 11 at midnight, features more than 30 bottles up for auction online, ranging from a couple of Rip Van Winkle 10-Year bottles to a 75th Anniversary Old Forester Gift Set. The auction can be accessed here.

Other items include a “Stock Your Bar” collection of various bottles of whiskey, rum and more; a Blanton’s Single Barrel Gold bottle; a Willett Family Estate Rye; a 2011 Four Roses Small Batch Limited Edition Barrel Strength (pictured), and a vintage Old Fitzgerald decanter dating to 1973.

“This is a really good auction,” Eric Gregory, president of the Kentucky Distillers’ Association, told The Associated Press. “There are some hard-to-find and rare bottles on there. … It’s not every day you go to a liquor store and find a bottle of Blanton’s Gold. You never go to a liquor store and find a bottle of Four Roses 2011.”

Proceeds from the auction will help finance educational programs that promote responsible alcohol use by adults and awareness programs for youth, including Project Prom and Project Graduation, according to ABC Commissioner Allyson Taylor.

“We look forward to seeing the response to this auction and have started planning additional auctions for 2025,” Taylor said in a statement, per the Robb Report

Auction items can’t be shipped and must be picked up in Frankfort following the auction, the Kentucky ABC said.
