Camp Runamok Kicks Off Aug. 18 in Kentucky
The second session of Camp Runamok for 2024 kicks off at Camp Crescendo on August 18. The camp immerses bar professionals in the production, history and mythology of Bourbon twice each year in an engaging, approachable, inclusive and responsible environment.
The summer camp that is Camp Runamok celebrates America’s Native Spirit with education, charity, and community building. Bourbon and bartending are woven into the fabric of America’s history. The event’s goal is to deliver that history from the very people that craft the spirit to the bartenders that serve and craft its cocktails.
For more than 13 years, more than 4,000 Camp Runamok professionals have been hosted by distilleries in Central Kentucky supporting on-premise. Through tours and educational sessions, bar professionals visit the production locations of world class American Whiskeys.
Each year Camp Runamok opens up an application process for the 150 spots for new campers that are available at each session. Potential attendees must demonstrate experience, skills, motivations, and career commitment. Selected attendees are provided housing, meals, drinks, activities, and transportation to Kentucky’s iconic distilleries. The result is an introduction to a community of professionals that extends throughout the global on-premise industry.
Camp is supported by large and small distilleries across the Commonwealth. Their engagement is reflective of the shared respect for both whiskey and hospitality. Hosting or activating with Camp Runamok has become a regular tradition for the industry whether at their facilities or Camp Crescendo.
