Wilderness Trail to Release Wheated 8-Year on Aug. 23
Wilderness Trail distillery announced it will release its wheated 8-year Bottled in Bond bourbon in its gift shop on Aug. 23. It was distilled using the same mashbill and process as the distillery’s flagship wheated Bourbon, which was released in April 2018.
The Aug. 23 release is a Bottled in Bond small batch, which is a true small batch of just 18 barrels. The bourbon’s mashbill is 64% corn, 24% wheat and 12% barley, and it is distilled using a sweet mashing process.
The Bourbon used in the blend was distilled in the distillery’s pot still before the operation moved to its current location 4095 Lebanon Road and Wilderness Trail started using a column still.
Sales of the wheated 8-year begin at 9 a.m. Aug. 23 at the Wilderness Trail Visitor Center. Hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The price is $88 (plus tax). Wilderness Trail 8-year Wheated Bourbon also will be available in select retailers in Kentucky beginning Aug. 28.
Wilderness Trail was founded in 2012 by Shane Baker and Pat Heist and is located in Danville, Ky. The Visitor Center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and the distillery offers hour-long tours six times a day with a tasting at the tour’s conclusion.
