Sammy Hagar Releases New 10-Year Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum
Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar capped his 75th birthday celebration by announcing a limited-edition batch of his Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum called Sammy’s Lost Cask – 10-year Aged Rum. Only 500 bottles, each numbered, will be released, including 75 bottles that have been personally autographed by Hagar, himself.
According to legend, Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum’s original Hawaiian rum was placed into oak casks for aging in Maui, a few thousand feet above sea level in Makawao on the slopes of Haleakala. Hagar’s nickname for this specific batch was “Rested in Paradise” (RIP). Years later, production was relocated to Puerto Rico and those Hawaiian rum-filled casks were lost. Recently, more than a decade later, those barrels have been rediscovered.
“These lost barrels have been an incredible discovery. In addition to more than a decade of aging, these are the last bottles of rum that were made from Hawaiian sugar cane. If you have a rum aficionado in your life, this is an incredible gift for their collection,” said Hagar in a news release. “Passion is what drives all of my spirits and this rum is the crown jewel of Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum – these bottles have aged to absolute perfection.”
The original recipe for Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum was made from pure cane juice, harvested on the island of Maui and converted into golden sugar at the old C&H sugar factory on the island, before it was driven up the mountain to Hali’imaile Distillery and distilled into rum.
Ten years resting in oak casks have aged this rum to what Sammy considers perfection. Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum celebrates the discovery of this golden aged treasure, known as Sammy’s Lost Cask, with a limited-edition release which will be available for sale starting on Monday, Nov. 14. Consumers who want to gift these collectable bottles for the holidays will need to order by Cyber Monday, Nov. 28 to guarantee delivery in time for Christmas.
