The 2022 release of Old Forester Birthday Bourbon is going to look different than it has in the past – for the first time, no bottles will be sold at the distillery.

The Sept. 2nd release marks the 22nd limited edition expression, but this year Old Forester’s Birthday Bourbon will be available to purchase through a sweepstakes running from Aug. 24-31. This gives people nationwide the opportunity to win the right to purchase the most coveted expression of Old Forester.

Because of the new policy, none of the bottles will be sold at the distillery on Sept. 2. Winners will be notified via e-mail that day with information on how to complete their purchase.

George Garvin Brown was the first to seal his whisky, Old Forester, in a glass bottle in 1870. To commemorate his birthday, the brand annually releases Birthday Bourbon, a limited edition, vintage-dated expression. Hand selected by Master Distiller Chris Morris, this small batch bourbon offers a unique character and flavor profile.
