Copperworks Distilling Releases Two New Core Whiskeys
Copperworks Distilling Co. announced the release of two core whiskeys on the same day: Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey Release 044 and Release 45.
Why two on the same day? Copperworks co-owner and President Jason Parker said in a news release that the distillery releases whiskeys based on flavor rather than age. It just so happened that both expressions warranted release.
Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey, Release 044, is a blend of eight barrels – four distilled from Western Pale Malt and aged 45-52 months; three distilled from single variety barley (Baronesse barley grown in Colfax, WA) and aged for 56 months; and one created from what is known as a “Queen’s Run” and aged for 60 months.
In all, 1,920 bottles of Release 044 were produced, and the whiskey was bottled at 100 proof. SRP is $69.99.
Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey, Release 045, is a blend of six casks of single variety malt whiskey distilled from the Fritz variety of barley grown on a single farm in the Skagit Valley and aged for 36 months in charred new American Oak casks. Although that single variety whiskey makes up 94% of the bottling, Copperworks added 6% from whiskey that aged for 60 months in a Manzanilla sherry cask to add balance and flavor.
Copperworks Distilling produced 1,681 bottles, which were bottled at 100 proof. SRP is $69.99.
In addition due to ongoing supply chain issues, Copperworks Distilling has been unable to source its preferred bottles, so the new releases will be released in a different bottle style. The news release noted that the distillery is in the process of developing a proprietary bottle design.
