Buzzard’s Roost Rebrands Very Small Batch Rye as Char 1
Buzzard’s Roost Whiskey is re-launching its debut whiskey under a new name: Char 1 Rye.
Formerly known as Very Small Batch Rye, Char 1 is a three-year-old Indiana rye whiskey that was crafted for use in cocktails as well as a sipping whiskey.
Per a news release, Buzzard’s Roost employs secondary barrel maturation, using the barrels to promote specific aromas and flavors. Jason Brauner, co-founder and master blender for the brand, likens the process to using the barrels “like a spice rack.”
The mash bill is comprised of 95 percent rye and 5 percent malted barley. This 105-proof whiskey suited for cocktails including classics like the Manhattan, Old Fashioned and Whiskey Sour, as well as more innovative cocktails like the New York Sour or Vieux Carré.
Char 1 Rye has an SRP of $49.
