Middle West Spirits to Release Double Cask Whiskey Collection
Middle West Spirits today announced the launch of its new Double Cask Collection whiskies, each of which are designed to reflect the characteristics of their casks and the terroir of its origin grain.
The Double Cask Collection features three spirits, including Sherry Cask-Finished Bourbon, Oloroso Wheat Whiskey and Ported Pumpernickel Rye Whiskey. The collection of double-cask whiskies will be available Oct. 1 and packaged in black, navy and green canisters.
The Sherry Cask-Finished Bourbon is aged a minimum of six years, first on heavy-toasted American white oak barrels crafted in Ohio, before it matures in sun-blackened Spanish Solera Sherry casks. For the Oloroso Wheat Whiskey, the base Wheat Whiskey for five years in toasted Ohio-made American White Oak barrels, before being cask finished in Spanish Oloroso Sherry barrels. The Dark Pumpernickel Rye Whiskey, meanwhile, spent at least five years in medium-toasted local American White Oak barrels before it is moved to French tawny port casks.
Bottled at 97.25, 100 and 99.5 proof, 750mL, respectively, Double Cask Collection bottles will be offered at $99-$125 SRP. Single-bottle decanter gift sets will sell for $125 and a gift set featuring all three spirits, plus a decanter, retails for $330.
Decanter gift sets also will also be available in single or three-bottle packages, and each whiskey is also available in cask strength.
