Bourbon Pursuit is the leading whiskey podcast, dubbed as “The Official Podcast of Bourbon”. Started in 2015, Bourbon Pursuit reaches a global audience with more than 1.5+ million streams per year informing listeners on the next bourbon trends, great bottles, and sharing the personalities behind their favorite brands with interviews from prominent whiskey distilleries.

Bourbon Pursuit is looking for a professional audio engineer (or team) that can enhance our back catalog for a move to a dynamic ad insertion platform. The right candidate can take flexible instructions and make the best possible product.

PROJECT:

Edit and remaster the back catalog of 250-300 podcast episodes.

• Over the course of the podcast, we have used various tools for producing.  In the beginning, no audio clean up was done except for fixing levels. Around 150 episodes will require removing background music (when possible) and using any preferred tool to do proper audio remastering that the engineer deems necessary (noise removal, de-essing, reverb, EQ, etc) and spot check audio to verify sound is not distorted.
• For episodes where advertisements are baked-in, the engineer will need to remove all baked-in advertisement (pre-roll, above the char, and mid-roll) spots.
• The engineer will need to re-add audio bumpers with fades at certain points to account for dynamic ad insertion.
• After exporting to mp3, the engineer will be responsible for uploading and replacing the existing file on the podcast host and set markers for dynamic ad insertion.
• The engineer will need to update the copy on the podcast host by removing a section.
• Lastly, the engineer will need to edit the WordPress site and swap the embed code with the new podcast platform.

• Work closely with the podcast production team to understand the goals and outcomes
• Ability to know how the podcast flows and make the correct edits without requiring instruction or timestamps for every episode
• Be able to adapt to multiple file formats because some episodes will only have the final exported mp3 while later episodes will have all the raw files for large Adobe Premier Pro projects.
• A background in Audio Engineering with a few years of experience of remastering audio in any preferred tool such as Pro Tools, Reaper, Audition, Hindenburg, iZotope, etc that can satisfy needs listed in the project
• Experience with Adobe Premier Pro since this is how the majority of episodes are edited
• Ability to mix bumpers and fades at certain points for dynamic ad insertion.
• Capable of navigating WordPress and HTML code to know where to swap out embedded player code

RATE:

• We are seeking bids on completing a project of this size that can be done per episode or per hour. Completion target is November 2021
• Rates vary from $25-$40 per hour or $50-$100 per episode based on experience
• Will require submission of past work and potentially testing one episode in our backlog.
