Four Roses to Release Steamboat Race Single Barrel April 22

Bourbon

April 21, 2021

It’s almost time to break out the steamboats again. As such, it’s time for Four Roses to break out its annual commemorative bourbon release.

Four Roses will release a limited edition 10-year-old bourbon from its OESK recipe. The 117.1-proof whiskey will be served on board the three vessels during the April 28 race and also will be available to the public in limited quantities at select Louisville-area Kroger Wine & Spirits shops.

Four Roses Master Distiller Brent Elliott, Kentucky Derby Festival President & CEO Matt Gibson, Belle of Louisville Captain Mark Doty and other local bourbon tasters gathered online for a tasting to select the barrel that would be bottled.

This year, the Belle of Louisville will square off against the Belle of Cincinnati and recent competitor the American Duchess. The race covers a total of 14 miles and down the Ohio River on the Wednesday before Derby Day. The Four Roses Great Steamboat Race Commemorative Single Barrel Bourbon will be available beginning April 22. A bottle signing with Elliott is scheduled at the Middletown Kroger location at 12501 Shelbyville Road, beginning at 5 p.m. that day.
