Distilled Spirits Council Announces DISCUS Academy for Industry Education

The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS), the advocacy organization for the U.S. spirits industry, announced the launch of DISCUS Academy to provide education and training for distilled spirits industry professionals.

The education courses will be available to both DISCUS members and non-members, offering curriculum and industry-recognized certifications related to the business of distilling.

DISCUS Academy curriculum is designed to be beneficial to all in the distilling business, from budding entrepreneurs to industry workers looking to expand their knowledge and expertise, according to a news release. Coursework will focus on best practices so as “to increase unity, productivity, sales, and prosperity in the distilled spirits industry.”

Examples of upcoming course content include:

  • Fire Protection Best Practices
  • Risk Management
  • Foundation on the 3-Tier System
  • Developing a Safety Program
  • Understanding Financial Statements & Cash Flow Management
  • Organizational Structure, Job descriptions & Compensation
  • Trade Practice and Tied-House Considerations
