Westland Distillery to Release Two Whiskys as Part of 7th Annual Peat Week
Westland Distillery will celebrate its seventh annual Peat Week this year Jan. 26-28, complete with two new bottle releases, guided virtual tastings and cocktail classes.
The two new releases are both American single malts aged more than seven years each. Cask No. 428 is a heavily peated 61.4% ABV whisky aged 89 months in an ex-bourbon cask; Cask No. 6732 is a heavily peated 60.8% ABV whisky aged 89 months total in ex-Buffalo Trace cask and a Mount Gay rum cask.
Peat Week begins with a virtual symposium Jan. 26 led by Master Distiller Matt Hofmann and Master Blender Shane Armstrong that will feature a discussion of unique peated cask finishes.
For this year’s cocktail competition, Westland partnered with three bartenders to create cocktail kits for the event for shipping within Washington state. Each kit purchase includes admission to a virtual cocktail class on Jan. 28 which features the guest bartenders.
