Boone County Drops Barrel-Aged Whiskey Finished in Sherry Casks
Boone County Distilling Co. announced a limited release of a barrel strength straight bourbon finished in oloroso sherry casks.
Bottled at 114 proof, the small batch bourbon was first aged in a charred new white oak, then finished for 10 weeks in the sherry barrels. The bourbon is the same mash bill as Boone County’s 91 proof bourbon product: 75% corn, 21% rye, 4% malted barley.
Oloroso is a type of fortified Spanish dry wine made from palomino grapes in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles.
Only 320 bottles were produced and they are available only at the distillery in Independence, Ky. MSRP is $69.99 per bottle.
