Old Forester today announced the forthcoming release of three limited edition small batch whiskeys to celebrate the brand’s 150th anniversary.

The bourbons are blends of 150 barrels chosen by master distiller Chris Morris, a few of which lost their full contents to angel’s share. What was left was tasted and separated by master taster Jackie Zykan, then separated into three batches.

All three of the bourbons were bottled at cask strength. Batch 1 is comprised of 46 of the barrels and is 125.6 proof; Batch 2 was blended from 48 of the barrels and is a 126.4 proof bourbon, and Batch 3 was made from 53 of the barrels and comes in at 126.8 proof.

The packaging will be reminiscent of original Old Forester designs, bottled in amber glass and bearing a facsimile signature of George Garvin Brown, Old Forester’s founder, and then packaged in a commemorative canister. Garvin is credited with being the first to sell whiskey in sealed glass bottles.

A limited number of cases of Old Forester 150 will be available nationwide in October; suggested retail price is $150 per 750ml bottle.
