Three Chord Bourbon, owned in part by musician Neil Giraldo, announced a new bourbon release for September, a 15 year old barrel proof straight Kentucky bourbon called Whiskey Drummer.

The small batch release will include a pair of batches of 10 barrels each that will be distributed across 15 states, with a total bottle production of under 2,500. Each 750ml bottle will carry an MSRB of $189.99.

Tasting notes provided in a news release include campfire, baking spice and dark chocolate on the nose, with notes of walnut, leather, smoke, vanilla, and allspice on the palate, followed by a long finish.

Whiskey Drummer is a departure from Three Chord’s core lineup, which consist of whiskeys blended together from multiple distilleries.

“We wanted to shake up the industry (with our core lineup) yet maintain respect for the tradition and legacy of heritage bourbons, to look at the process differently,” co-founder Giraldo, who is best known for his guitar-playing and songwriting career, said in the release.

Giraldo is well known for working with his wife, Pat Benatar, along with other hitmakers such as Rick Springfield, Rick Derringer and John Waite.
