Angel’s Envy Mizunara Oak Cask Launches at $349.99
Angel’s Envy announced the launch of its latest limited edition release, a Mizunara oak finish. The 97.8 proofer is $349.99.
The launch coincides with the distillery’s also announced Founder’s Day in which Lincoln and Wes Henderson filled their first port barrel. Lincoln died in 2013 and the Hendersons have since sold the majority to Bacardi.
But for all intents and purposes, this is still a Henderson distillery. Their faces are all over the walls, and no decision gets made without a Henderson approval.
This release is significant, as it shows the the depth and buying power Angel’s Envy has now. While I think this whiskey is not the best Angel’s Envy release of late, the Mizunara Oak is unique and hard to come by.
This Japanese Mizunara Oak Cask is a blend of four-year-old and nine-year-old Angel’s Envy that is finished in new Japanese Mizunara oak casks for an additional two years. This release is the first in the distillery’s Founder’s Collection, which exclusively includes releases commemorating brand anniversaries, special events and milestones, the company said.
The whiskey will be available first to its member’s only group, 500 Main, and then to select Kentucky retailers.
